Prop Question

I know this has probably been answered several hundred times on this site. I have a 76/51 prop, a friend of mine has a 76/53 prop. Is there really a big difference in the two? Is there a 76/52 prop and would that be a nice in between of the two. I know a 76/51 is a climb prop and a 76/53 was the sta...

Re: Tailwheel transition time to a 170

Jworth94, With the higher cross winds, a short field and a soft field I do 3-point landings. With just a little bit of cross wind 6-8 knots I will do a 3point but anything higher than that I do wheel landings. I can do a 3-point in higher cross winds but I am personally not comfortable in the higher...

Re: Tailwheel transition time to a 170

Jworth94, I am not a 170 guru like some of theses people on this site. However I have just over 300 hours in a 170. I am sure I will get a lot of flak for the following post but this is my very limited experience in a 170. I went to a 170 from a 150 with 150 hours total time. After 6 hours of TW tim...

This might be a little late but have you spoken to any other mechanic shops for another opinion? I think 290 hours (7 Weeks) to install an engine is a little bit much. The mechanic where I live did a complete top end (I know not really the same) but it was only 3 days start to finish. I am not a big...

MontanaBird, Thank you for having an open mind unlike some of the other people on this forum. I have stewed over this thread since I first read it. I first heard of the accident on the Backcountry site. I was amazed; I did not read any negative things on that site. They all talked about learning fro...

A Texas joke!!!! A Texas lawyer was bird hunting near a farm in Oregon. He shoots a bird and it falls on the land owned by an elderly farmer. The farm has been in the family for over a hundred years. There are several signs stating “NO HUNTING WITH OUT PERMISSION” all around the property. The la...

FAA User fees

I saw this on the Backcountry site, thought it would be important here also. This is a link to send a letter to your congressman opposing FAA user fees. http://www.nbaa.org/userfees

First of all I want to let everyone know how much I appreciate the information on this website. I also appreciate the information on the backcountry site. I read as much information on 170’s on this site as I could before I purchased my 170. I spoke with several people from this site who generousl...

Has anyone talked to the Backcountry guys, http://www.backcountrypilot.org/ they have a photo system and it seems to work just fine. It’s not like we want to re-invent the wheel. Just a thought, I’m sure they would help us if needed.

How many people from this forum have actually sat through an entire criminal or civil trial? I am not talking about being on a Jury, because the Jury does not see the entire trial either. They only see what a judge says they can see. I have sat through several trials. You would be surprised how much...

Ok I was not going to add my opinion in this matter but I can't stand it. I am very sad for the pilot and his family but 10.5 mill for his mistake, I have a real hard time swallowing that. Plus if you read the NTSB report, here is a quote from it, NTSP Report #SEA99FA105 “Almost immediately after ...
