Elevator Tab control rod measurement

Post by dlords »

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. we had to chance the Elevator tab control rod. We got one off a 170A. It appears to be to long. We don't have a old control rod to measure from. So if anyone has a 170B and could measure the control rod for me that would be great. I need end to end measurement. We have a 1952 170B S/N 20426
thanks so much

Your first problem is that the A model is probably different than the B model. It has amazed me how many 170 people don't realize that the A model and rag wing have a different elevator and trim system than the B model.

The part your looking for is 0334109-6 for the B model the part you have is 0334109-2 from the A model.

My elevator trim tab control rod was missing when I got my 170B rebuild project. I bought a replacement rod from a salvage yard. The length between bolt hole centers is 15 13/32". The length from end to end of each clevis fork is 15 7/8". The rod/tube is 3/8" dia. The fork ends p/n's are AN481-3P. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/an481.php
