EI R-1 Tachometer

Post by Andre_C »

I am looking into installing an Electronics International R-1 tachometer in my 53B with a C-145-2. Does anyone know if this tach would be compatible with Slick 6364 mags? Also any recommendation or advice on fabricating a tach drive cover plate?

Thanks in advance guys,
Dre.

Dre,
I have about 10 years trouble free using an EI R-1, it has served me well. The mag type should not matter as the EI R-1 connects to the mag switch, I found no reference in my old installation papers about a particular mag type. About a cover for the cable drive you might consider using a tachcap like the one in the below link.

Installed one a year or two ago, we have 6364 mags. It does wire to the ignition switch.
Download the install and operating manual from EI's website for free.
Was a pretty easy install. We installed a tach cap that EI sells.
