I agree with George if you need a AFM quickly send in the $1. But in the interest of preserving and sharing this documentation send me copies of all your AFMs regardless of the condition. Let me be the judge as to whether it is usable or not.
Eric I appreciate your copy could you send one of the other AFM also. I've started to repair the one you sent but perhaps my time would be better spent on an "Approved" copy.

AFM
Did anything ever come of this AFM thread?
I got (from another 170B driver here in ANC) a 2-page one signed on 9/28/1950 & 11/26/51 (by two people with title "Chief, Aircraft Division).
This makes no reference to floats, even though the 170B was TC'd on EDO2000s (which is what I'm on). I also have a Doyn conversion (for which I still can't find much paperwork) and somebody's droop leading edge (for which I have some paperwork, but my IA has my logbooks right now).
Does anybody have a "B" AFM that at least covers being on floats?

You seem to have the only AFM for the 170 and if it has no float info there isn't any.
To answer your question at the moment the project is on hold till I receive more copies of AFM examples. I have at least one copy of all three model AFMs but the quality of the A and B model versions I have aren't that good. I'd like to "fix" on good copy of each for the association but the ones I currently have will require hours of work. I know there have to be better versions of them around to start with.

The B model (seaplane) requires the AFM dated Oct 29, 1951. (See your aircraft type certificate data sheet.) The B-model landplane's AFM must be dated Sep. 28, 1950.

I just got off of the phone with Cessna an ordered an AFM for my 49’A. I will gladly send it to you if you still need one to make a decent scan and can save it as an Adobe document. When it arrives I will get an address from you. By the way it was a lot more than $25.00.
How much is it now?

Well the copy that I have I got from Bruce and it is certainly legible and legal. However it was sounding like the association could use a master copy for the members and I thought that I would pony up the 25 bucks to get one and let Bruce turn it in to an Adobe file. When I called Cessna the guy knew exactly what I was talking about with the one page two-sided AFM. Then he informed me that all AFM’s were $53.00. Big Surprise! I was still in shock when I agreed to pay it I didn’t think to ask if that was the same price for a new 206/182/172 ect. So I can only assume that that is true.
Sorry about the long answer.

The AFM meets the legal requirements for required documents. I have found it rather handy to have all the reference material for the aircraft in one volume.
I took a half size notebook with dividers installed a copy of the AFM for my N number land & sea, the owners manual, 0300 operators manual , TC, pilots handbook for the 450 fuel scan and placed the GNC250 manual in the notebook pocket.
I also laminated a copy of the checklist from the owners manual
and the programming guide for the 450. punched a hole at the
top and put the pages together with a binder ring.

AFM
The B model landplane AFM I picked up from another 170 driver here in ANC is indeed dated 9/28/50, the date indicated above for a land B AFM. It *also* has a 2nd signature dated 11/26/51 -- yes, two signatures, both with title "Chief, Aircraft Division."
So I guess I will shell out $53 to Cessna for a B model seaplane AFM to be legal.

I just got back from my plane and did some digging. I guess I do have the Landplane and Seaplane AFM. I'll scan them and try cleaning them up and posting a link to a download in a few days. But if anyone orders a new one from Cessna, I'd still be interested!
