Re: Possible Sirius-XM bankruptcy
You sure hit a topic that has been on my mind the past few days. I should know the answer but I have not prepared myself. I ALWAYS have a plan "B". This time I do not.
Does anyone know of a satellite weather service out there comparable to XM Aviation weather - I have come to use it alot particularly the winds - and please refrain from telling to contact Flight Service - I do I want to see trends.
Thanks to anyone that has information.

I guess I would miss my XM weather but it seems to me any company stupid enough to pay Martha Stewart or Howard Stern $100 million a year deserves to go belly up. Bill K

How unfortunately true. I couldn't believe they were serious when I read about their contracts.

The thing I wonder is whether, under new management, somebody can make this business go. Reportedly both XM and Sirius were losing money before they merged. Where will any new money come from now? Guess we'll have to wait and see....

Sounds about par for the course.

Re: Possible Sirius-XM bankruptcy
Sirius XM has a new part-owner, and enough new money to keep them out of trouble for a while:

Sirius has $2 billion in annual revenues and 20 million subscribers. I had no idea! A few mil to some popular talent doesn't seem like so much any more (but they still have to get their heads above water somehow...).

If I used my personal airplane more regularly or for commerce, I'd sirius-ly consider subscribing to a wx broadcast and I'd buy an upgraded Garmin that could utilize the servce.jrenwick wrote:... But I have to say, the debauched executives we see/hear so much about, and their marketing-decision-making puzzles me. I think if Howard Stern or Martha Stewart endorsed inner-tubes I might resort to hard-rubber tires.
