I know one of you smart guys will have the answer to this question.
Is there an FAA website where I could find the registered owners of 170s (name/address) in a particular state? Or is that a fee-based service?

Velvet,
This link will take you to the FAA search page for Make/Model:
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... nquiry.asp
Enter "Cessna" for Manufacturer Name and enter 170, or 170A, or 170B for Model Name. You'll have to perform three separate searches for the three different 170 models.
This search will give you a list of states with the number of registered owners per state. Click on a given state to see the actual owners. Keep in mind that these are the names of the registered owners... i.e. you will likely find some registered to a business instead of a person.
If you are looking to make mailing lists or whatnot from this list then you may have to do a little work with the results from the FAA site.

Perfect! Thanks a bunch. I knew I could count on you! (and thanks for your offer Bruce, but I've got it covered. I was able to copy what I needed into Word.)
Now I just have to figure out how to do that auto signature thing so I can list all my new titles.
Retirement = more work for less money
BTW - congratulations to me - I was recently elected president of the Missouri State Poetry Society. I'm proud of that one.
(gahorn - you know I always go off topic)

Congratuluations, indeed!
Good for you Velvet. I have heard that retirement means working harder than you ever have before. I can't wait to get there so I can get productive again!
btw -that database allows you to search for pilots and other items as well.
