Exhaust stack brace-pg 86#13
What is the function of this brace if the exhaust stack is changed to benham/bartone exhaust type? Is it still needed?

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. I reinstalled mine when I installed the Benham pipes.gahorn wrote: ... The cross-brace's purpose is to alter the vibration harmonics of the exhaust system in order to reduce a cracking problem. The HW exhausts required a different cross-brace because they have a different harmonic frequency. The crossbrace was installed as the result of an early SNL (Service News Letter) that called for it's installation as a retrofit to HW conversions, and announced it's inclusion on aircraft being factory-equipped with HW.
