battery box movement

My mechanic doing the rebuild of my 170 says that the battery box seems to move alot when the box is wiggled. So much so that the firewall actually bends/ flexes up and down about 3/4" when moved. Is this normal or is there a beefup kit that can be installed to strengthen it? Just worried that it might cause failure of the firewall if left alone.

there should be a support bracket holding the upper, forward, outboard corner of the battery box to the engine mount. Is it missing?

I think it is. Will look at the parts catalog again to make sure. Thanks!

see fig. 17-21 (p. 32) and fig. 49-41 (p. 84). I've found these missing more than once.

Well I'll be dipped, all these years that tab has been sticking out off the front of the Battery box, not hooked to anything, and I thought it was there to cut the back of my hands while working on the accessory case. 8O
