I do a fair bit of night flying in my 170. It’s one of my favorite times to fly.
I agree…incandescent instrument lights work best when used with a rheostat and on low-power. (and that arrangement is also a low electrical-demand so there’s little or no reason to use L.E.D.s in that service….however I do use LED “GE87” replacements for the overhead instrument lamps and they do fine with the rheostat.)bgiesbrecht wrote:Same here! I replaced the post light with a red LED and it gets the job done very well, even better than the LED instrument post lights I have controlled by rheostat, which are actually TOO bright, and on the lower rheostat settings, start to flicker.
