Today was a milestone for our '48 170. Since buying the airplane two years ago, I have been fighting with the fuel selector. Stuck in both, fixed. Leaking, replaced
the valve. Suck in the "Both" position again. Enough! Gave up and turned "V" over to Chris Gardner and his staff at Sierra Hotel Aero at Fleming Field in South St. Paul, MN for one of their approved fuel selectors. Should have done that in the first place. Their selector is the answer. They can be reached at navion.com.
Next on the list was the 8 day clock. Never did work. Came across a gentleman in California who specializes in airplane clocks. One week turnaround and today I was able to re-install the clock. Like flying a new airplane!!

Re: Completed Projects
Chris Gardner, President of Sierra Hotel Aero based at Fleming Field, South St. Paul, MN holds the approvals for the SHA Fuel Valve. He has approval to install their valves in the Cessna 120/140 airplanes and this was the first installation in a 170. Ours is a early serial number '48 model. Serial #18430. Chris is the one to speak with in regards to getting the system approved in your airplane. It's basically an Andair design type valve, but there is more to the modification and approval process.
Chris can be reached at navion.com or Email him at chris@navion.com.
He's very knowledgeable about the fuel system and we couldn't be happier with the installation and smooth operation.
Ray Brack, 68855 Vista Chino, Cathedral City, CA 92234 is the man for the 8 day clock repair. His phone number will be in my next post.
