Airspeed Indicator Repair
My 170A is almost done with my avionics updates, but my airspeed indicator has a static leak. I don’t want to shell out the bucks for new since it will essentially be a backup to the G5 airspeed info. I hate that this will extend the downtime since my plane is almost done.
Anyone have an instrument repaired recently? If so, who did it, would you recommend them and what was the turnaround time???
I know this question has been asked a lot, but I’m curious about current turn around times. I’ll be making calls tomorrow.
Thanks, Doug

Re: Airspeed Indicator Repair
Doug, I believe I have a “fresh overhauled” and tagged unit for a 170-A in my hangar, properly labelled and color-placards. I will look in the morning, and wait for your telephone call. (Leave msg since it’s an election year and if you’re not in my contact list I’ll not likely pick up.... I’ll call you back.... I’m in the directory and on the front page of every Flypaper.)

Re: Airspeed Indicator Repair
I sent mine to Lock Haven and got it back looking brand new in three weeks. I was very satisfied. Bill K

Re: Airspeed Indicator Repair
If it’s repairable it might be overhauled for as little as $145 or exchanged for $235 or purchased outright for $285.3958v wrote:I sent mine to Lock Haven and got it back looking brand new in three weeks. I was very satisfied. Bill K

Re: Airspeed Indicator Repair
I recently had an ASI re-screened and overhauled at Rudy Aircraft Instruments. Very happy with their service.
Re: Airspeed Indicator Repair
Good results from Keystone.
I ended up having my avionics shop send my airspeed indicator to Keystone Instruments in Lock Haven, PA. They were a few more bucks than other places, but when I called and spoke to them it was evident that they had worked with my brand of instrument quite a bit. Turnaround was great. My shop mentioned that he was waiting on this instrument in the note he sent with it. Keystone received it in this morning, repaired it right away and it will be shipped out this afternoon. Can't beat that. I may have gotten lucky that he had an opening in his day, but I won't complain.

The only place to go. They do all kinds of antique instruments. Cars, motorcycles and aircraft.
