I just received my March EAA Vintage magazine and read a letter about Russ Farris's plane years ago. Just wanted to let you know there is a lot of info in this magazine.

And THIS month's VAA magazine has an interesting letter from another member, telling how they just happened to be on the ground and was PRESENT when the mid-air collision between Russ's 170 and the DC-3 occured! He relates his observations of the passengers and pilots of the airplanes. (Pilot of the 170 excitedly said, "He RAN OVER ME!") And he relates how the upper cowl of the 170 fell to rest in a school yard. (Just like all the insurance company scenarios predict.)
I wonder if the 170 pilot (a grandfather) was cited for carrying 4 pax in a 170, 3 of them kids in the back seat?
