My engine is in for overhaul and the shop owner is having problems procuring a bearing set. Do any of you know of readily available bearings ? Maybe one of you has a set of these on the shelf in your hangar ?? Duane Shockey (858)437-3962

Just been through the frensoairparts catalogue , and it’s very impressive compared to spruce. If they have the parts advertised I would grab them. Some of their gear parts are a little expensive but it pays to shop around . O-300 parts are so hard to source these days as continental are not supporting this engine.

Were these bearings ever used in a non aviation application?

Why can't we pick up phone and order a new 0-300 engine. Yeah 35,000 $ would work

To start production of the O-300 would cost many more dollars than $35,000. I knew a Canadian that had a pristine Cessna 172 and aFrench Robin with a O-300 engines fitted . While both aircraft were of a advance age and the Cessna had the dreaded oil leak out of the sump. Sump was removed from the Cessna and it was “toast” .Then the sump from the Robin was removed to be put on the Cessna and it was found to be in bad shape also. So both aircraft were grounded.
The owner was desperate and couldn’t find a sump any where. He told me he had contacted Continental to buy new. They had nil stock. He said that he offered “many dollars” to start production . Continental refused. He ended up buying some engines from flea bay just to get the sumps . He was so lucky as he didn’t know about the different stud patterns on the sumps. The purchased engines matched his engines.
