Paint Shops in the Northwest?
I am planning on having 80A stripped and painted this year. Are there any paint shops in the Northwest that anyone can recommend? I am located in Nampa, ID (KMAN).

If the paint shop in Burns, Oregon is still open, they used to do good work for a decent price.

Thanks Richard. You're the second person who has told me to look into Burns.

I've seen some outstanding paint jobs that came out of the shop in Red Bluff, CA. I don't know about their prices or whether they're still there. A lot of paint shops moved out of California because of the environmental regulations.

There is a local paint shop here but they cannot fit the whole airplane. They would need to remove the wings. I am not sure what I think about that yet. I know the control surfaces should be removed but would anyone be opposed to a shop removing the wings for a paint job? Seems like a lot of work.

Removing the wings is a big job, but that's not the problem, how are you going to support them while they are being painted? Wing fixtures are rare and difficult to build. Other wise two saw horses and paint one side at a time and have a paint over lap to buff out. that will tie up the paint booth for at least 1 extra day.

Hello Mike!
That is the shop doing my conversion and where you would be picking up the engine.
They have an excellent painter there and would make quick work of removing the wings for the paint booth.
They have proper stands and cradles available to do it right.
Still planning on removing it when I get back from Prudhoe after the - expecting to hear from Chris at DelAir any day on a shipping date for my installation kit. He's been working hard to get it ready.
Cheers!
