It is usually the CFI's privilege to remove the shirt-tail of the soloed student. Hmmmmnnnn.

George, Thanks for that enjoyable video. The shirt back part usually happens on the first solo and this student appeared to be on a cross country. As a CFI, I was very impressed with her cockpit organization and scanning. She did not appear to be doing it for the camera. She must have a good instructor. When I learned to fly, my instructor wanted my "head on a swivel". When I learned to drive, my dad used to tell me I would need eyes in the back of my head. Remembering back on 20 years as a regional airline check airman, I cannot tell you how many new pilots our company hired (CFIs, military, furloughed airline) who would stare straight ahead and never move their heads. Same thing as a CFI giving flight reviews. I used to give some serious advice, often with positive results. Maybe I am being picky because how many times did I actually see something threatening as I was craning my neck? Still, something to think about :D
