I was beginning to wonder who was going to get done first, you and your 27% build or Del on my 100% version.

So.... If a 27% scale 170will fit in a 100% scale Vanagon, would a 100% scale 170 fit in a 370% Vanagon?

Some of those interior pics look like an actual airplane with a balsa interior!

Arash-
I really like the look of the plane with no struts. Too bad Cessna didn't make a cantilevered wing on the 170. I know, I know, it was to save weight and money, but it does look better.

Aryana wrote: The airframe weight as of now is 20.0 lbs, but that doesn't include:

Engine & prop (5.2 lbs)
Cowl (0.6 lbs)
Receiver & batteries (???)

So we're at 25.8 lbs so far and I'm targeting 30 lbs so things are on track

Don't forget the unuseable fuel at 6lb/gal !

Aryana wrote:I agree Richard. I'm always envious of 190/195 and 177 owners when I see how much less obstructed their underwing area is.
That nice look is at the expense of interior head room though, always a compromise somewhere.

I still can't believe you are actually going to fly that work of art!

I was thinking the same thing -- wish we could have the cantilever wing on the 170. But, like Richard said, there are compromises. This latest service letter for the Cardinal makes one thankful for the simplicity of the 170 wing design.

Arash, beautiful work. That is one large airplane! Seems to me that it would only be a little more work to build a Falco. Some good deals to be had there as it looks like Sequoia is out of business. In all your spare time  you could have a side business completing Falco's, Vari Viggen's, etc. gathering dust in basements and garages!
