I think we need a new model section. I have two unbuilt Jetco 170s, one cruddy Guillow's kit, a Scienfic 170 c/l kit and an excellent Acme Aircraft electric kit. I don't have enough time for any of them and I am not getting any younger.

The Scientific kit was an .049 powered profile fuse, built up wing ~24" span kit which I flew when I was 14 or so. It was inspirational. Great flying if you three pointed it. They still show up on eBay from time to time.

The Acme C-170, now out of production, was a modern laser cut electric kit. Ultra high quality.

The Jetco kit was the most versatile. Its well engineered and makes a great two channel model and is fully suitable to electric conversion.

This balsa 170 is quite a project. Very interesting. I am amazed at the skills a lot of you have beyond flying your 170's and other aircraft. pdb, your comment, "Great flying if you three pointed it." Isn't that the proper way to land tail draggers  I will bet it was a fast one too if it had any GREEN paint on it

Dude, you're losing it.....and I love it!! Can't believe the detail your going after with that thing! Still planning on Columbia tomorrow if you have a flying airplane and can spare the time away from your project.

Put some JR equipment in there instead of Spektrum and you really would have something! :P

Great job so far, Arash! I'm really digging it.

Be certain to use the proper wedges when you align your wheels.

When I first looked at the picture of your wheel still in its SkyLite package I thought you were putting in a stall warning buzzer. And said to myself he won't be able to hear that on the ground :P .

Very nice flap action.

I like the way you doubled the rib with thin ply and then glued on the servo mount.

Why deploy the flaps at all? ... Why don't you just slip it?

OK...so then... Maybe you can demonstrate why NOT to slip with full flaps! 8O

(It'd be a shame to lose all that fine handi-work tho'...) :(

How are you going to do the corrugations in the control surfaces? 13/16" spacing will be about right for the scale you're building... :D
