A reeallyfine looking restoration. Congratulations. Ugliest goddamn spinner I've ever seen on a C=170. A skull cap type would look a hellova lot better. (IMNSHO!)

What's to tell?gahorn wrote:Tell us about that exhaust.
simple Bartone pipes.
Re: 34V pretty much done
I was wondering about the approval of the exhaust...they don't look like Bartone's (which have a downward turn at the ends). Field Approval?

Re: 34V pretty much done
you find me a dome type cap for a 0-300-D, with the 6 bolt small diameter flange I'll use it.blueldr wrote:A reeallyfine looking restoration. Congratulations. Ugliest goddamn spinner I've ever seen on a C=170. A skull cap type would look a hellova lot better. (IMNSHO!)
Re: 34V pretty much done
That's good news! (The last I'd heard there was no hope for an STC. Bartone didn't have one and Benham's paperwork was incomplete.)T. C. Re: 34V pretty much done
The skull cap dome that I had did not have anything other than a sheet metal bracket running between two prop bolts with a plate nut for a center screw through the dome.

Re: 34V pretty much done
That's true and it fit the big flanged 8 bolt hub of the prop. the 0-300-D has a small hub and a 6 bolt flange. the dome from a 0-300-A is too big by about 1/2" all around.blueldr wrote:The skull cap dome that I had did not have anything other than a sheet metal bracket running between two prop bolts with a plate nut for a center screw through the dome.

I agree with Dick's assessment. Beautiful restoration, ugly spinner. Aircraft Spruce has 5" domes. See here also.blueldr wrote:A reeallyfine looking restoration. Congratulations. Ugliest goddamn spinner I've ever seen on a C=170. A skull cap type would look a hellova lot better. (IMNSHO!)
