This guy Jimmy M is smart! I'll bet he's been there. I used to always carry a roll in the airplane. If nothing else, use it to wipe off the oil dip stick.

Couple items I use a lot, for a variety of purposes, that I didn't see mentioned (or wanted to second)...I am only planning on enough of a "repair" to get me out of the bush, to get to someone who knows what they are doing, and I really try to keep it light-weight!

Zip ties of various sizes and gauges
"rescue tape"-the silicone type stretchy/sticky stuff
A leatherman/pliers multi-tool thing
A small MT bike tire pump.

I know there's a bit more in my kit, but those have stood out for me.

Additionally, I loved the "old-cd-as-a-signal-mirror"!!! I'm implementing that, and adding it to my rescue roadshow.

In noting the time stamp on your comment, I gather you didn't sleep in this morning either.

Ya ......gettin old ain't what it's cracked up to be.............
Turned the alarm off last nite and managed to "sleep in" this morning
until 6:20.

George.......them paper towels are pretty scratchy on the butt......
but still better than a hand full of leaves. ( I spend a lot of time
in the bush)

One of the things that I learned to, not exactly enjoy, but tolerate, in the boonies in Alaska, was the use of soft sphagnum
moss rather than scratchy leaves when nature called, uncontrollably, far from modern sanitary facilities. That sort of thing was a terrible SOB in winter!
