Engine failure

Post by simatos »

I read with interest the tread below regarding 170 that went off the run way in NH. This past sunday I saw something i hope I don't see again in the same vein. I was in Montreal visiting family and went to the big park in the east end of town with my brother. We are right downtown when brother bob says "hey look at that" . Overhead at about 500 feet among the sky scrapers is a 172 and the prop ain't turning. The plane passes in front of us and proceeds to line up over a big main boulavard and among the lamp post and wires, cars and people the pilot puts the plane down right in the middle lane with just a little crunch to the left wing tip. We zoom up right behind him and yank him outta the plane, gas coming from the left wing root. Not a scratch on the pilot. I since have returned too vancouver but got an email from the pilot and the NTSB guys preliminary analysis of the fuel is pointing to water contamination. All things considered a good ending to a scarey sight seeing tour. G
