Hi everyone,
I remember reading on here about 172 dipsticks in 170s or vice versa and the markings not being accurate when they are swapped due to the airplanes attitude when parked. I just put my 170 on Edo 2000s and it dawned on me that the dipstick readings may not be accurate as the aircraft appears to be more in a nose low attitude. What do you guys with floats generally keep your oil levels at?

John is correct. My dipstick reads 1 quart lower than is actually in the engine. 53 170B on EDO 2000

The presumption being that you have the correct 170 landplane dipstick part-number and the oil filter refilling with about 1/2 quart?alaskan99669 wrote:I just changed my oil and filter, put in 8 qts, ran engine looking for leaks, shut down and the dip stick reads 6.5 qts ('53 170B on EDO 2000's).
Good info.
