Not sequential in that the photographs were not taken on the
same day. The waterskiing "attempt" was "successful" with
no ill effects. The 170 in question was (sometime later) flipped
over while landing on a gravel bar. The damage from said
gravel bar landing wasn't that great, but the other poster is
correct in stating that the helicopter recovering the aircraft
"pickled" the load and dropped it, thereby causing additional
(more severe) damage.

I knew one of the previous owners of N63DJ. He had a fatal crash in a Super Cub in Washington. His wife Dell Jean was born Nov 63 (N63DJ). That was a very nice 170.

Try the rather new video called "Big Rocks & Long Props"
They use a fair amount of water "wheelies" as parts of various "strips"
It is interesting to watch them come around a corner on one tire
and then bump up onto the beach
At least one as short as 120 feet plus the H2O approach/touchdown.

All I know about N63 was that it was up for salvage in Alaska about 3 years ago, and it was well equipped. It looked like it could easily be rebuilt but then again when I bid on it there was no mention of it being dropped during recovery.
