Below are pictures of 2538D. It was recently purchased by Larry Schleinat and flown from CA to TX with the help of Bert Mahon (Kelly Mahon/funseventy's dad). REALLY nice 170! 38D is a 1952 model painted in the 1956 paint scheme. Just had to post some pictures of this nice 170! It is currently based in Denton.

I think I remember seeing that one advertised. They were asking big bucks for it, but from the pictures it looks like the asking price was well justified.

Is that louvres or paint designs on the lower cowling?

Yes.... they are louvers... I assume to help in cooling.
Think those are off early Bonanna's.

There is an STC for similar louvers on 180's. A friend of mine just put them on his. He said it got his oil temp down 15-20 degrees.

I had the opportunity to see this plane Sat @ the TX AAA Flyin in Denton, TX & it is a beauty. Owner is a nice guy too! I see a people's choice award winner if it shows up at Kelowna.
