Firewall insulation material?

Post by sanships »

Anyone have any idea on what material is used for firewall insulation? I saw in aircraft spruce that they have this on cessna 140's but not fot the 170's. I would like to get the material and just have it made here in the Philippines to save on cost. Thanks!

I used "supersoundproofing, 1/2" thick throughout my fuselage and have been very happy with it. I put it on the firewall as well then glued the foam backed AIrtex carpet over it. It came out really nice. I bought onre of the Airtex firewall blankets but it didn't fit well at all and offers very little soundproofing so I sent it back. I might have enough supersoundproofing left over to do your firewall if you want to do what I did.
