A little extra incentive...
A little extra incentive to stay aligned with and centered on RWY 04 at Brighton (45G) today. The dark strips are where the runway was plowed this morning about six feet into the grass on each side, leaving the 24 feet of pavement with about a half inch of hard-packed snow. The wind from the closest AWOS 10 miles to the west was 330/08. I carefully tested the braking action about halfway through the rollout (moderate at best), then just let it roll to a stop about 1500 feet after touchdown.

Re: A little extra incentive...
No issues other than being a little high and touching down about 800 feet past the threshold. I tested the brakes about 7-800 feet into the roll and could feel it sliding a little so I just let it roll and easily made a turnoff about 1500 feel from touch down with about 600 feet of runway left.DaveF wrote:That’s nice. I’m not the most experienced in icy/snow packed runways but I have operated out of the New England area mostly for the last thirty years and my experience matches yours. Hit your speeds, fly the airplane and don’t plan on breaking action. That said, winter flying brings it’s own special beauty. Keep it up! Cheers!
