I had one takeoff that I thought was going to ground loop. My mistake was accelerating while still turning right onto the runway with a left crosswind. Never again! I was told if you didn't have a ground loop, you will. I had one in 2003 and then refurbished my plane from firewall to tail.

So sorry to hear about your situation but as the rest of the folks have said you have to look at the positive side of this picture. You came out of this uninjured. I know the event will bug you for a long time as you replay it in your mind. Try to not let it get you down.
When I came back through Nebraska from Idaho after buying my plane I had about 18 hrs of total tail wheel time. I can't recall which airport we landed at but the wind was blowing more than I had ever landed in before in any plane and I was a nervous wreak. All went well on the landing as one of the two runways worked out for me but the taxiway from that runway was in direct cross wind. I had to use the left break a lot to just keep the plane somewhat straight. When I left the FBO the guy said just take off on the taxiway (the one heading directly into the wind not the one I just taxied in on), he said there's no sense in wearing out your breaks getting back to the runway. I was grateful.

Paulette and I are relieved to hear that Maryanne and yourself are both OK after your incident and we're hoping that you both continued your journey in spite of this minor setback. In my books you still deserve the long distance award, with a perseverance ribbon attached! Think of it as a 'trains, planes, and automobiles' experience, so squeeze that lemon and enjoy some lemonade.

Got the plane in the back of a van, John Hamling of lil Red Aero gave me a good hand. Mary Anne has begun her apprenticeship as an A&P.

Care to share your plans? Are you trucking it right back to Canada or will you be able to join us? No pressure, just curious which way you are going. You will probably not have to pay for any drinks if you make it to the convention!

Humm....free drinks and I've got some sorrow to drown, I should have consider that
We are in downtown Spokane. What a beautiful city core.
Took use a day to take it apart ,half a day to load the truck and we hope to be home tomorrow night. Tuesday need to unload the plane, return the truck and then settle down. Thought I could get on commercial back to the shores but Don't think we will make it. Thanks for thinking of us and give or best to Ina

Jim, So as a consolation, you will just have to make it next year.
Hope the trip home is stress free and your maintenance events will end with as good a bird as when you started.

We truly miss everyone, Gary, we will meet next year whether I fly there or drive, but we will be there.
Meeting the insurance man tomorrow. Cost me $4136.99 U.S. Just to get her home. Biggest shock so far, the prop is a mere $13656.00 U.S. ; that's will almost be a billion Canadian dollars in a short while

Now would be a great time to put a 3-blade MT prop on. John Nielsen from Flight Resource just got the STC approved.

KEAR landing runway 36 halfway there to Gulf shores. I think we had did about 11 hours and had only 10 to go. I'll be flying that approach for a long time. I'm getting over it but I can't believe I didn't hit the gas and fly away from the problem.

Been awhile but I'm getting close to launching CFIHK again. Haven't swung the new prop yet, it's still in its wrapping from Hartzell. Awaiting new rudder horn, should arrive this week, then some gas for the run-up, it's fingers crossed.
