Annual Inspection Anomaly

Post by MoonlightVFR »

I have owned N2890C for many decades.

Many different A/P IAs.
Have avoided ever commenting on their judgement shortcomings. Mostly pleasant experiences.

But I have some concerns.

My firm belief that an "inspection is an inspection". Not a contract that approves any unauthorized removal of parts.

I see no reason for sniping the safety wire on prop bolts. Thinking that a mirror check on back side of crank flange for crack is sufficient.

If the prop hub / crank flange / spinner bulkhead needs inspection for corrosion/cracks there's only one way to remove those bolts to inspect the area. Smoking bolt holes require inspection and torque-check.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
