Production of new Cessna 172s discontiued in 2014

Post by MoonlightVFR »

I was just on line with TXTAV.

Advised that New production and sales of 172s discontinued in 2014. Poor sales volume.

Surprise to me.

Over 44,000 mfg since 1955.

Maybe you should call him back and clue him in that his company is still making 172’s. Maybe he was thinking of the Cessna 162 which they stopped producing at the end of 2013. Skyhawk Brochure

The flight school I did my initial CFI with has a factory new 172 with Thielert diesel.

They’re still very much making 172s.

Ryan, What was your impression of the Thielert diesel? Years ago JAARS had plans all drawn up for converting the H-295 Helio Courier from the GO-480 to a Zoche diesel. Unfortunately, nothing ever became of the engine even though it looked very promising.

Thank you for the posting of the Skyhawk brochure. Liked every detail.

How did you acquire the brochure?

Why hasn't Cessna mailed each member a brochure?

If I had an extra $392,000 …. I certainly wouldn't put it into a 172.... and I suspect they realize it'd be a waste of postage.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
