Mechanic in Dallas

Post by ErikW »

Hi,

Not sure if this is in the correct section, but if anyone can recommend a mechanic familiar with the 170 in the Dallas, TX area for a possible pre-purchase inspection, I'd appreciate a PM or an email at weiszmann (at) hotmail. com.
Thanks,

Erik

Phil and Matt Pedron at Pedron Aircraft at Denton Airport are great people and know Cessnas. Phil owns a C-195 and Matt owns a C-140. Give them a call at 940-453-5324.

Ask them for a full annual inspection with a list of discrepencies broken out by airworthiness issues and discretionary issues. An annual inspection does not have to have any repair work done, it can be an inspection-only, which is what you are looking for. Any airworthiness issues should be the seller's responsibility whether fixed or cost of repairs deducted from the purchase price. Discretionary issues can be used to negotiate the purchase price.

There is no such thing as a "pre-purchase inspection". It means whatever the mechanic wants it to mean. Annual inspections have criteria that have to be completed in order to be considered an annual inspection.

And keep us posted on your purchase progress. There are several 170 guys in the Dallas area in the 170 Assn. If you buy a 170, you'll be doing yourself a favor to join the 170 Association.

Good luck in your search and don't hesitate to ask for help.

Thank you for the information...I will give them a call. I already joined the Association several months ago in preparation for a 170 purchase.

Erik-
If you would like to meet in Dallas some time, I go up to visit my mom every week or so and usually have some free time while there. I fly into Grand Prairie and have a vehicle.

WELL SAID!

When a "Pre Purchase Inspector" misses an expensive UN-airworthy item you now own.... they always have an "out" by saying... "Well, MY pre-purchase inspections don't look for that! If you wanted me to find out if the airplane was AIRWORTHY....then you should have asked for an ANNUAL inspection."

Doh.
