Can the C170 instrument panel accommodate the future?
Future Avionics technology may be a big stick beating on our panel.
Is BIG DATA really coming our way?
I have no knowledge about what is about to transpire. Seeking information.
It faintly sounds like a Mini Version of ACARS is headed toward GA.
What do you Do you foresee ?

Re: Panel Space Requirements
There's a bunch of stuff here that sounds like data links, etc. Who knows when or how it would ever be implemented.
Re: Panel Space Requirements
Future avionics are headed toward consolidation (think EFIS) and this results in a reduction of needed panel space. If one is willing to dramatically re-design the panel the 170 panel will have plenty of room.
It's the original look that I prefer, however, and if I wanted an ultra-modern aircraft I would not choose a 170.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons.
