FNG Checking In

Post by TFA170 »

Was online looking for info and stumbled upon this site.

I've been reading and reading - some really good topics and lots of great knowledge on here. I've got tons of questions, but I'll try to put them in the appropriate threads.

Thanks in advance for answering my dumb questions! :!:

Welcome to the association FNG! You have spent your membership money very wisely. Tell us a little about yourself, where you are located, what the registration number is on your new 170, etc. You will find a treasure trove of folks here willing to help you with advise on how to do vrs things to your new bird.
Now on that free overhaul, I think that may be running a little behind time, but keep looking for notification any day now (I am still looking for my notification as well)

Plans include flying it and flying it some more! Then maybe I'll look at mods.

Well, I'm a former U-2 pilot and just bought a '53 170B myself. Based at Montgomery Alabama. Totally thrilled for ya, and I know how excited you feel! I wish you many happy flying hours in the years to come.

I'm the guy that is delegated to do the associations free engine overhauls. I'm so damned old that the fuzz probably would not try to incarcerate me and my ball point overhauler tool. Just send me your engine log book and give youf engine a good washdown, The log book will be retutned bo US Mail and YOU must pay the postage. Then all you have to do is to securely strap the airplanto your butt and fly. Pretty painless system, isn't it.

a few landings in a good breeze amongst the tree-lined runway kept things interesting enough. :

ANYBODY can fly airplanes with lots of horsepower. It takes REAL AVIATORS to fly 'em with barely 'nouf!

I like the challenge! (and the smoothness of 6-cyls.) 8)
