Welcome Adam! The 170 is a great airplane and an excellent trainer. To get the most out of looking for, buying, and owning a 170, it is money well-spent to join the Association.

Welcome to the 170 forums, Adam! I echo Richard's admonition to join the 170 Association. We have lots of members in north Texas for both technical advice and fellowship.

I raised my 2 daughters in my 170, and even though neither caught the flying bug (yet...), they both have dozens of close friends and a lifetime of fond memories through the 170 Association. The photo below was taken upon return to California after winning the Long Distance Domestic Award at the 1998 170 Convention in Lakeland, FL.

Even if they don't ever want to learn to fly, they will always remember when Dad flew them to Florida in a small plane. Thats the important part. Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!
