Another super nice flyin! Weather was perfect and lots of planes (I heard the number 525 mentioned) and lots of people. I counted 15 C-170's. Dave & Marcia, thanks for another successful one (#29) My 18th one.

I was there Saturday, it was great, I met a lot of our members and we took a couple of group pictures. 525 sounds about right both sides of the runway was full of planes plus the parking area. Plenty of action all day and plenty to eat.

I've rec'd personal stories from folks in attendance that told of four "accidents/incidents" and lots of unruly flying.
Reklaw used to be so much more pleasant until the crazies started attending.

George, I was there for the weekend and I don't really think the crazies were in attendance this year. I do recall in some past years where there were some however. I even remember some crazy guy landing at night a couple of times:lol: Seriously this was a much better behaved crowd this year IMHO. One situation was the result of pilot error, but no injuries and a second one occurred about 12 miles away as a twin Seabee lost an engine and crashed. I heard that all 4 occupants were taken to the hospital for observation, but no serious injuries. I can't confirm that however. The plane was a total loss. Not sure what the other two you referred to were. There were about 525 planes as I earlier reported and 14 C-170's, not 15 as I earlier reported.

Does anyone know who has the powder blue 170 with the drooped wing tips and an 0-360? He put on a flying clinic in his plane. Fun to watch.

I was told a supercub lost an engine on takeoff and crashed, that a seneca flew the length of the runway at low power and ended up in the woods, and that an RV landed hot and ran off into the pond.

I landed 3 behind the Seneca, we noticed he was hot most of the way down the runway. Bad for him and was almost bad for the next couple of planes on final everyone started to run towards him not checking traffic about to land. but no one was hurt. and there were a lot of C170's. OOW

Old, Bold Pilots??? I used to be considered one of them by certain people! However, it was only their aviation ignorance and my occasional stupidity that gave me that reputation among them.

The fly-in had several crazies, alot of pedestrian traffic accross the runway as usual, but with little reguard for aircraft. I observed a Kitfox swerve on one gear to avoid people walking directly in front of it. It was Close. I had a friend who flew in from 6 hrs away, who was leaving and had to pull up abruptly to avoid people walking accross the runway. He, along with several pilots I have talked to, state they will never return. These are people that go to fly-ins all over the US. What a shame. I observed a guy fly aerobatics over the runway while there was other aircraft taking off and landing. There were planes doing low passes down the runway in BOTH directions within mins. of each other. Dave and Marcia need to uninvite some people, and hopefully their crew can regain control the event. The plane that ended up in the water was a Thorp T18, tore up right wing. Landed hot, too far past the hump. Hopefully next year the sane pilots will take control. The strip was in excellent shape. Flew in, in a Piper Comanche 260, and had no problems landing. Liked it when in the past they had the flybys and low passes to the right of the active instead of down the runway, and they were done in the SAME direction.
