Bob Snowden

Post by 170C »

Many of you may know Bob Snowden from Fredericksburg, TX. I just received an email that Bob and a friend were seriously injured in the crash of the friends L-19 on Saturday. Bob is in the hospital in San Antonio and is expected to make a full recovery according to the email I received. We wish both Bob and his friend a speedy recovery.

Ina and I went to the hospital on Wed while Bob and Joe were being treated. Both guys had serious head and leg injuries. We were able to visit with Bob Wed night after coming out of surgery and he had a good attitude but has a long road to recovery. Bob is doing well this morning as reported by a friend who just saw him. He is going thru continued leg surgeries every couple of days to clean out bad leg tissue but is progressing well. He has good circulation to his foot and his head wound is healing nicely. We don't have much info on Joe as the hospital will only release info to his family and we have had little contact with them. The engine on the L-19 quit on base leg and they were not able to make it to the runway. The plane hit the corner of a steel pipe cow pen and only moved about 6' from initial impact. The wind was blowing 15-20mph so their forward speed was low. It could have been much worse.
