We have a member doing this right now that I've helped a bit with how to hook the GPS to the ELT so, at least for his particular installation, I've thought about it. He choose an ACK E-04. I have no idea why he choose that one. He is planning to use a Garmin 18x GPS probably because it is suggested in the ELT instructions as a stand alone unit that could be used.
There are a few other options for the GPS, for example all Garmin panel mounted units can be used and most handheld units could be as well but that could be messy with wiring.
