I'm truly impressed by the amount of tribal knowledge being displayed by this group. It's humbling to see the amassed talents this membership encompasses.

Any updates? At the pace you started out at I thought for sure you would be done by now. I'm sure the nice weather and hopefully and in annual airplane have slowed you down a bit. It sure did cut down on my desire to polish...

And then there's the time you're going to need to get it certified.....

You could have avoided all the certification issues but a 27% build isn't enough to get you under the 51% rule

I wish I had the energy to tackle a project like this! I really would like to build a giant scale straight tail Cessna 172, as odd as that sounds.

A big straight tail 172 would be awesome. I've seen some really beautiful scale nose gear struts that I would love to use on a build just like that.

No, I'm just about six years behind you.

I'm still very much into R/C, but I've got my eyes set on N2256D. Once I check that off my bucket list, I'll spend more time and money on R/C.

....I truly am amazed at your ingenuity and commitment!
Can't wait to see a video of it flying (or better yet,...in person at Convention!)

Arash, it is good to see you have the same attitude I have. If it hasn't flown, it's not an airplane. Unless you change your habits you will have plenty of pictures of the model when it is complete.

My experience is that prospective aircraft that have no photo documentation, have a 50/50 shot of crashing on the first flight.

As I have mentioned previously, this project is really awesome. The skills to do this are impressive. I, too, will eagerly await photos, videos of its flying and hopefully to get to see it in person at an upcoming convention.

I will show my lack of RC knowledge now. I have flown an RC only once with its owner helping me. I see videos of RC's of all kinds, sizes, power plants, etc. and see things being done with them that are impossible by full scale aircraft. I am assuming this is due to the power to weight ratios of the RC models. Does anyone build RC's and use powerplants that approximate the true weight to power ratios of the full scale aircraft that the RC is copying? If so how do they perform? Just curious.

Frank, in the old days the power to weight ratio wasn't as good and so yes many models have been flown with more scale power. However since you can't scale the atmosphere or gravity there are very few models under or over powered, that fly exactly like a full scale.
