New 170A owner
I just purchased my first ever airplane, which of course is a 1950 170A.
Figured I'd join TIC and learn as much as I can!
Oh and I'm a student pilot still (40+ hours) and hope to be done soon.

Re: New 170A owner
Welcome to the organization. You have purchased a fun machine that’s also very versatile. It’s one of the cheaper aircraft to run. I have never had so much fun in aviation since I have purchased mine. There are some modern mods to do on these aircraft so make it even more fun. There is a list on the web site. So tell us where you are based and where you what to fly.
If you have a technical question some one somewhere will have a answer.

Re: New 170A owner
Hey thank you!
I'm based at KCOE (Coeur d' Alene, Idaho). I purchased the plane from an older fella in Port Angeles, WA who owned it for 25+ years. It has been hangered most of its life. Engine has about 160 hours on it, has a STOL kit and numerous other mods and upgrades. Flys very true and straight.

Re: New 170A owner
I think I know the plane, has the instrument panel been modified ? Maybe the piano switches removed ?
KCOE, very nice part of the world. Shoshone is a regular stop for me since Richard took over managing the airport. Might also be my favourite due to some of lowest prices for gas in the state.
Sounds like I might have to do the bike ride down the mountain this fall.

Congrats on your first plane!
Always glad to help if you have questions about your A model. Mine was my very first plane purchase as well, and the info in this group has been invaluable. Have fun with it!

Nice! Congrats! I too am a new 170 owner (bought from another TIC member earlier this year). It's been so fun and a learning experience as well.
