INstall Rosen RCS -300-2

Post by MoonlightVFR »

Brand new in box - IA takes a look and says Wrong Angles were packed - error

I carefully check each item in carton - it is as described - the insp dates and signs several times.

I even have an old copy of ROSEN master manual covering their entire line.

every thing seems correct .

Did read on forum some 170 owners installed diff from Factory possibly had to reinstall.

Could someone help us? Post a simple picture showing your beautiful installation and explanatory note.

Read that the install time was 1/2 hour. I have 3X time just editing the box contents.

Grady,
Did you try using the search field above using Rosen?

Grady-
I can’t get my pictures to upload tonight but just install them like the STC says with the arms pointing aft and they will be just fine.

Some people install the arms forward (backward) b/c they claim the visors are too close if installed per the STC. I have not found that to be the case but I relax and sit back when I fly instead of leaning forward close to the windshield.

Also, if installed backwards (arms forward) then there is a wide gap between the cabin top and visor when the visor is tilted forward toward the windshield, which lets a bright band of sunlight shine into your face during most of the day instead of shading it.

It boils down to owner preference but installing per the STC works beat for me.

Same here per STC. I was even able to utilize one of the existing holes from the old sun-visor on each side, don't find then too close at all. Work better for side glare this way too.

Finally, got the picture to upload.

These Rosens are the non-articulated style. I find them very adequate since they are normally used as windshield sun shades. They also adjust easily around the V-brace. I was able to use both of the original visor attach points.

The round velcro dots come in handy for stowing the BAS shoulder harnesses.

Talked to the Rosen rep at snf. He verified what the installation instructions say to mount the brackets pointing aft. He said if someone wants to mount with them pointing forward its ok from a functioning standpoint, but doesn't meet the instructions.
I have had a minor issue with the pilot side not always remaining in a stowed position. I have tightened the allen screw as much as I dare. He suggested giving it one more try and if it didn't work I could sent that unit back and they would determine what the problem may be. I like the Rosens and still keep a sun block stick on pad with a suction cup that was a give away somewhere . If flying into the sun, it blocks the sun where the Rosen dims it. My opinion, its a good investment.

When flying into the sun in the late afternoon or early morning (rarely happens), if it gets too annoying, I drape a chart or other piece of paper over the Rosen and get 100% shading.

Are these the RCS 300-2? I see the RSC 300-1 as the one for 170s?
