c-145 oil cap

Post by oldplaneguy »

Old plane guy here searching for a replacement oil cap for 3577C. so far I have been sent 2 that don't fit. My part number 640620-2 should correspond with the 8 quart capacity, so I am told. The oil fill spout is large a little bigger than 2-3/8. Any body want to make a suggestion?

Check you local auto parts for old cars and pickups. I can't tell you which ones but many had a fill like our planes.

In a post from 2015 where I wrote: http://www.cessna170.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4373 640620-2 is the PN listed in the TCM IPC. Try EnParts in Lancaster, TX for salvage cap. 660 Ferris Rd # 102, Lancaster, TX 75146

...OR..
Contact regular parts suppliers and continue to ask for that Genuine TCM Part Number.....… That is if you want to spend around $150 for it.

...Otherwise substitute ...... Spruce PN FC-2646 ...about $10 . https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... lange1.php

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
