Re: Surefly mags

you get about a 5-10 deg hotter CHT when operating at best power and you may get about .5-1 GPH better fuel burn at economy cruise running LOP. CHT's come down at economy because you're on the lean side of the power curve and the heat isn't in the cylinders. You may see about 1-2 HP gain when runnin...

Re: Surefly mags

We’ve tested at work. You get about 85% increase in efficiency out of the first variable timing unit and the other 15% with the second variable timing unit. So the point about the fuel and HP you get if you just use one. The biggest point and why everyone should really like them is the no maintenanc...

Re: Surefly mags

the variable timing unit will be firing first when advanced, so its like you're running a single ignition and the regular mag will be there as a wasted spark.

Re: Surefly mags

They required an engine STC and an airframe STC. So the units have passed certification under FAR 33 rules and that's why SureFly can say its certified. They're having some troubles getting the full features of the EIS with the AML STC. If anyone wants more info you can email me personally. jrupert@...

King Tranponder tray compatibility

Can anyone tell me offhand if I have a Bendix King KT76TSO transponder currently installed in the plane, would a KT76A be a slide in replacement with the old KT76 tray? I haven't had the time to look at both manuals and figured it might be something someone knows by memory. If not, it'll give me som...

Re: 850-6 4 PLY AERO CLASSIC SMOOTH TUNDRA TUBE TYPE (AA4K5)

I've been flying for about a year now with these and return home after every flight to pavement. I have seen no appreciable wear and absolutely love them on the grass or gravel!

Re: ADS-B uavionix updates

Dem,

what did your threshold value end up being that you programmed in the app? I think i have some Transponder/Encoder issues that have me failing the Mode 3A portion of the verification flight and I'm trying to survey the installed units different threshold values.

My mistake Bruce, I must have got my info crossed from previous research. I went back and checked and you are correct they are only showing it as ADS-B out solution

No one is getting anything certified while the government shut down is on going. Its really starting to affect our projects we're working on now.

Re: ADS-B uavionix updates

Jtramo,

What threshold value have you tried to far? I started with 42, and have flow a flight at 23. Both failed the Mode 3A part of the verification flight. I have it set at 35 now awaiting good weather to try again.

Stratus Aerospace Lab has a wing vent replacement that is a USB charger.

Re: ADS-B uavionix updates

I flew my verification flight yesterday and failed it due to the Mode 3A reporting. I wasn't able to verify the threshold value worked at my airport due to lacking no ground radar and i didn't bother with trying to find a test set. I've adjusted the threshold value and found that if i just put the t...

Re: ADS-B uavionix updates

Christmas came a bit early, the unit showed up on the 24th. I plan to install and fly off the performance flight prior to the new year. My annual runs out Dec 31st so I'm going to test how quick the install truly is!

ADS-B uavionix updates

I just wanted to let anyone who was tracking the uAvionix SkyBeacon that mine is in the mail. I received tracking number yesterday and ordered it Oct 18th. The website says orders placed now ship January and the person on the phone said they have ramped up production. I was able to get in on the sec...
