Re: Fuel Tank Placards

Interesting catch Gary. Here are CAR 4, 3, FAR 23 and 25 wording regarding fuel placards. Note no quantity is required for aircraft certified under FAR 23 and 25. Car 4.png Car 3.png FAR 23 Sec. 23.1557 — Miscellaneous markings and placards. (c) Fuel, oil, and coolant filler openings. The following ...

Re: Fuel Gauges

I recalled this discussion when I recently read the following clip from CIES FAQs page . Obviously not an unbiased opinion. IMG_0620.jpeg Hmmm. Glad I don't want to put CIES probes and gauges in my Vagabond case I don't think they know what they are talking about. CAR 3 3.672 calls for the fuel gau...

Re: 3200 Scotts Tail holds the break to the left but not the right. Help.

I watched the video and spoke by email to acecabral. The tailwheel locks and releases to one side, but free swivels to the other. I suggested looking at how the wing-shaped spring (18) fits into the notches in the control arm (8). Any other suggestions or insight? IMG_2080.jpeg If this is the case ...

How to see Aircraft Records, Mantenance, Registration and so much more, FREE and instantly

The FAA's new site CARES.FAA.Gov is up and running. You can go there and create a MyAccess account. See register upper right corner. Screen Shot 2023-11-30 at 5.52.20 PM.png You will also need a 3rd party authenticator, I choose Google Authenticator which is one on the 3 choices. Google Authenticato...

Re: Scott 3200 attachnment bolt

The kingpin itself is part of the main bracket assy and not a separate item. It is not impossible to find a king pin that will slide out of the bracket. I had one in my early 3200 experience and flew it thinking nothing of it until I realized it was not suppose to be a loose fit. At that point the ...

Re: Question re: Leaf Spring Removal

Snap - on 1/4” drive wobble sockets are your friends. :D Gearwrench 1/4" drive flex sockets are more friendly at more than half the price. :D :D :D However I removed the forward two bolts before I owned wobble or flex sockets so I used a plain old Craftsman knuckle, wobble or flex adapter and ...

Re: Question re: Leaf Spring Removal

Lee, as I recall any time I removed the springs I removed all the AN-3 bolts. The two that go forward into the fuselage can be gotten too with a long extension through the slots for the rudder cable. You might get away with only loosening these two bolts but I kind of doubt it.

Re: Restarting a Sleeping Beauty (170A)

Depending on your regulator, you won't see any appreciable power being made at 1200 rpm. Probably need 15-1600 rpm for 5 or 10 seconds to be able to diagnose whats going on. My regulator was tweaked by my partner who had been doing it since his days on the farm and garage in the 50s when folks reall...

Re: Restarting a Sleeping Beauty (170A)

Hi Bruce- yes I am aware of the CG. No tail feathers or wings. I can pick up the tail with one hand. I mentioned I tied it to the lamp post. :) Yes, I noted you tied it to a lamp post. I do that all the time to prop my Vagabond, but I'm just trying to be sure the plane doesn't take off without me a...

Re: Restarting a Sleeping Beauty (170A)

Be very careful. The CG with the wings removed isn't what you might think. I had a Cub with the wings removed. Was periodically starting the engine to help preserve it while I recovered the wings. One day the engine came to life with just a bit more power than I anticipated and quickly quit but the ...
