Re: Method Put Air in Tire Scott 3200

Another vote for valve extenders.

If you put it on, pump it up, and take the extender right off, you hopefully won't forget it. It's a quick and easy solution.

Re: 1952 170B Yoke Rivet

After chroming and powder coating my controls, I opted for the "Gahorn" solution and it has worked fine for me now for quite awhile.

Re: Left the master on...

This is one of the things I just love about the piano switches.

As long as they all line up, the Master is off.

Sorry to hear about yours being left on Doug :? :|

Congrats on your first plane!

Always glad to help if you have questions about your A model. Mine was my very first plane purchase as well, and the info in this group has been invaluable. Have fun with it!

Re: Disconnecting Controls

The Stock throttle cable end is a threaded piece that is unscrewed from the cable. That will leave you with no obstructions to coming through the firewall. You need to remove the grommet from the firewall and it should pull through. The Grommet is a tight friction fit. Put a new one in with a new ca...

Re: Checklist speeds - help needed

Doug, All your answers are in the 2 page AFM. That's it. We choose to fly OLD airplanes built during a time when the V speeds really did not exist in the form they are currently published in. Your AFM shows you various climb speeds listed for altitude, temperature, etc. as well as a 76mph climb spee...

Re: ADS-B uavionix updates

Ole Pokey, You state that they can't start production until the STC is done. But on their website, they state they have two production lines going right now to meet demand and will be shipping as soon as the STC is acquired. https://uavionix.com/downloads/tailbeacon/uAvionix-tailBeacon-Status-Announ...

Re: Fuel dipstick

I have been using the Fuelhawk tubes such as George has outlined for the last 4 years, and found them to be very accurate. Fuel burn per flight hour corresponds well with the tubes after flying. As he stated, if you fill to the necks it will show above the top mark, but I'm not worried about fuel le...

[quote="cessna170bdriver"]I visually check the shop heads on the rivets that hold the counterweights in place. I’ve found some missing in the past, apparently due to dissimilar metal corrosion between the lead and aluminum. I too have found the heads missing on my counterweights. I always ...

Re: Carpet or Vinyl for a floor covering

This looks superb.

I have been looking for a good vinyl solution for some time. The carpet is threadbare so have been flying without it. Dragging mud/grass/ and dirt into the plane makes the vinyl a viable solution.

Thanks for the heads up.
