Well here we are a few years later and I'm still sittin behind my trusty O-300A. Still wishin for more power for a respectable climb to 9500 or so. Was still considering a C180 right up until I heard of autogas causing problems with the fuel bladders. I am a dedicated mogas user when I can find it, ...

Yes, I am now a believer. I'm just glad George didn't chime in with an "I told you so" I never saw the post concerning cutting the generator gasket, just as I never saw the info regarding the operational life of generator brushes. Hey, it all worked out fine...this way I have more t...

I've made a check of all those points in recent months, and seem to remember something about the AGM batteries not being recommended on generator equipped aircraft as they would tend to encourage overcharging. At any rate, I've got "pink power" installed once again in the form of a Gill G2...

Great idea George. I've already ordered the 1" flange from Spruce as trying to find a 7/8" unit is going to be next to impossible. Never thought about SCEET tube though. Good idea. I know I always have a problem with the hoses up front feeding the heater muff and carb box rusting and then ...

Made it as far as Olive Branch MS from WV without a generator, but ran the battery down pretty low. Took my battery box cover off to once again find that my Concord RG25XC battery (that everybody says can't puke in the box) puked in my box for the third time :x My next battery will be a standard flo...

I am the most recent victim of a generator failure. Grounding the FLD does not produce a charge, nor does reflashing the ARM. I've got a unit coming from AeroTech of Louisville, but I have a question. My present generator has not held up very long, lasting less than 400 hours, and I am wondering if ...

Good deal! So I will plan to transition the metal pitot line to flex hose after it exits the wing root, and replace the static and venturi metal lines with flex hose for the extent of their run. Will make the installation of the various instruments much easier and may even reduce weight :)

That will be the idea, the stack being offset enough to the right to allow the vertical control column to pass to the left of the radio stack. All the fine tuning will be done when everything comes out. I can't wait ot get all that old mess out. I do have a question though. The pitot, static, and va...

Whew! Hearing the feedback on the SkyTec starter makes me so glad I shelled out the additional $300 for the B&C starter last year. I had heard of the cast housing of the SkyTec being prone to failure and seen some really nasty photos. This is one area in which the B&C shines with its end hou...

I am also getting right at 118 mph cruise when loaded fairly light. With all the family and baggage on board, I fall to below 115, and may be lucky at some times to maintain 110. Looks like the additional speed, and fuel economy might make a prop change worthwile. Does anyone have a standard 7653, o...

Now that I know my 7651 is a climb prop, I need only one more bit of information. Is there any information, given a "standard" airplane, regarding the difference in cruise speed between a 7651, and a 7653? In other words, I am more concerned with cruise speed on family cross country trips ...

Aha! That is the reason I am going to place a Garmin 496 in a panel dock in the area that has limited behind-panel space due to the T bar. The 496 panel dock only takes up a couple of inches behind the panel. The audio panel and KX-155 are at the top of the stack riding over the T bar, with the rema...

Great news for us LORAN users! I might just keep my KLN-88 in the bottom of my stack. George, can you give a short tutorial on the VOR radial/distance method of entering a fix if it is not currently in the database? I can't find the info in my manual. I have a database from 2004, and have not found ...

I miss the minimum static RPM by about 50, but I attribute that to a 600 foot elevation, some tach error, and an engine that was last overhauled in 1974 8O This thread did raise a question regarding the prop. If my log is correct, I have a 7651 prop. I can't remember if this is a cruise or climb pro...

Since I am keeping my 170B for a few more years now, I am revisiting the subject of replacing my old hacked-up panel with a new center-stack panel. But here is the bug on the windscreen...I've decided not to go with a packaged panel kit as I do not want to whack off the control column and cables. Th...
