A lot of stations in both Georgia and Mississippi that are not on the list have signs saying no ethanol.

Re: Air Mail
That was a very interesting video. They did not mention that they got the idea from the railroads. The railroad RPO's would pick up the mail on the fly at speed with a hook on the side of the RPO car and throw a bag off the train at the same time. This method had started on the trains in the 1800's ...

Re: Should Public Servants be Served?
If he is so blind that he could not see the big X on the runway untill he was on short final and committed to land, he should not be flying. Also, why did he depart from a taxiway rather than using one of the two not closed runways? Pure arrogance and a "The rules do not apply to me" attit...

Re: Auto Gas Users
In our area most of the auto gas stations now post their gas contains no alcohol. (Some still post that their gas may contain up to 10% alcohol). However, when I was still flying, although my 180 was approved for auto gas, I did not use it because of the short "shelf life" of the auto gas.

Re: VFR-IFR Questions
I basicly believe proficiency, not the rating you have determines safety. I have single and multi engine land, single engine sea, instrument airplane and am a former CFI. However in my final flying days I considered myself a single engine day time VFR pilot because I didn't fly or practice enough to...

Re: Kitty Hawk - FFA
I believe the flight we took during the convention, just off of the Outter Banks, was the prettiest scenery I have ever observed while flying in my 40 plus years of flying.

Frank,
I would think they are compatible, but, George probably knows. I used to get different looking containers from different sources but never actually looked at the numbers, assuming that they all met military or aircraft specs.

Re: Oil...again?
Over the years I most always used single grade oil in my 170, 172, and 180 and never had any major engine problems. In the 70's and early 80's I used Texaco Oil W-100 with an occasional winter change of W-80. I changed to Shell W-100 and W-80 when the Texaco oil either quit being made or became hard...

Re: Another Just Out Of Curiosity
Gary, I never heard of Jan Wood flying a 170B most of the way around the world. However, Jerri Mock did fly her 1953 180 solo completely around the world in 1965 or 1966. When I had my 180 I called it my "overgrown 170".

What is the most; northern, southern, eastern, and western airport in North America that you have operated from? Myself, northern; Vegreville, Alberta, southern; Key West, Florida, eastern; Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and western; Tehachapi, California.

Re: Javelin Aux Tank Vent
My Javelin did not have a seperate vent. It had a vented cap that looked like a vented automotive gas cap of the era. The installation instructions paper work also did not show a seperate vent.

Re: Just out of curiosity...
On February 20, 1977, I couxed my 170A N9027A up to a maximum altitude of 16,000 feet. I just checked my old log book for the exact date. I was determined to see how high it would go. As best I remember it took what seems like forever to get to 16,000 but it was actually still climbing very very ver...

Re: Lower Cowl Lip size
My former 1949, N9027A, had the 3/4 inch lip. More of the other 170A's I remember had the larger lip rather than the smaller lip.
