Rough engine

So we finished the annual on 3949V this weekend, and I took advantage of tonight's beautiful weather to make a test flight post annual. No issues or squawks during the annual, we didn't make any changes or modifications. Engine starts and runs normally, runup and mag check was uneventful. On takeoff...

Re: Door latch repair

We removed and repaired the fuel valve 10 years ago, so I'm halfway to the swagger now! :D

I won't be able to attack it again until after Christmas but I will update with pics etc once I get it apart.

Thanks and happy holidays!

Re: Door latch repair

Bruce- Thanks for the quick reply. I've done all but remove the pin (55) in terms of disassembly; when you say, "There was originally two rivets that must be drilled out which hold the latch mech. in the door. If your latch has been out before these are probably screws." - are these throug...

Door latch repair

I've read through all the threads I can find on the door latch repair options, and have the door sitting on my bench at home. How in the heck does the latch come out? It looks like it slides out the aft edge of the door based on all the pictures I've seen, but for the life of me I can't get the exte...

I'm curious ... I'll check mine and report back. I've never paid any attention to what it reads after shut down.

Aeroshell "expiration"

What do you all think of this? http://s01.static-shell.com/content/dam/shell/static/aviation/downloads/pdf/products/all-shelflife.pdf My CFI and old timer flyin buddy says they are nuts, "that damn dinosaur oil is millions of years old, it ain't gonna expire in 4 years". I realize it is th...

Thanks for the update.

Private messages

Sorry if this is the wrong forum ... I seem to have an issue sending a PM; just noticed that it went straight to the "outbox" and does not appear to have been sent. Matter of fact, there is a message sitting in the outbox that I thought I had sent way back in 2007. Anyone know how to get t...

Re: Another sad day in Alaska

Sad to hear.
I came across his web site last year and really enjoyed his photos from AK flying:

He was my age and in the same profession as me ... really unfortunate to hear.

Re: Lee Bottom Fly-In

I will be there in the 170, weather depending.
Also will have one and possibly 2 friends coming along, both in their C-140s (if that is OK)

Re: Norfolk to Iowa stops?

Hawkeyeinfo-

Depending on the day if you stop at Eagle Creek (KEYE) - usually has somewhat reasonable fuel prices - I'll meet you for lunch in the 170. There is a nice restaurant just across the street from the field.

Quality Acft Accessories in Tulsa (1-877-833-6948) has the fuel screen service kit (part # AF6561) for about 70 bucks.

They also have the two gaskets needed for when you open the pump to check the screen at annual per the AD (part 643914 and 643915 at 0.60 and 6$)

Thanks for all the info!
