Re: New Inner Tubes

Avoid experimenting with the new Desser brass 90-degree valve types. Upon installation one of the brass tubes snapped with only minor effort and there's $60 wasted. The one that did not fail also did not make it any easier to add air with the fairings installed, so ... I'll never use them again and...

Re: Electrical issue after jump start

I'm definitely no electrical genius but if the battery was discharged to the point it could not excite the alternator what would be the indications on the amp meter? I'm just remembering when I was a kid with a dead battery in a car that was alternator equipped that after a jump start the alternator...

Re: ? Givng up !

I agree with the above. In Oct I was in Kansas and needed help with stuck exhaust valves at an airport that didn't have an A/P. I did find an old retired mech that basically (as he says) works when he feels like it. For a project like yours you just might run across someone who doesn't want to work ...

Re: ADS-B

Here are 2 web sites about ADSB. One is the FAA and I think the Wikipedia gives more info about it.

Re: ADS-B

But, you don't want to be the last one off the ship. In the last year, they might not be able to make them fast enough. This is exactly it. This, and avionics shops' capacity to install them. The airplanes I fly for work are both getting done soon; one in works now and the other getting a full pane...

Re: Stuck exhaust valve

Yes, it took cooling down for them to stick. I'm a little nervous about using steel wool to clean the stems. Wouldn't something like scotch brite work better? Just thinking of what steel wool would do to the stem.

Stuck exhaust valve

I've got the ECI NiCad cylinders on a Connie O300C. I flew to Kansas from New Hampshire a few weeks ago and had 2 exhaust valves stick open after the plane had sat for a few days. Found an old A/P that spent an hour teaching me how to take care of it via the rope trick. He did one with me watching &...

Re: Braided Ground Strap O 300

Years ago I was having problems with starting and checked the ground cables. Back in the '70's and old crusty A/P told me that it seems most electrical problems turn out to be the ground connection. They had a lot of corrosion cleaned them and that did the job.

Re: Logbook Entries for PMA Parts

I like the sticky's because I can read them with no problems even though it does make the book thicker. But it would be nice for a thinner book. Stuck in Kansas with 2 stuck exhaust valves...oh well..get to pester my sister and family for a few more days.

I'd love to hear the explanation for that. I would have guessed it to be the other way around.

I was wondering about that so I put that up. That is a good website for knot tying the boy scouts and other outfits around here use it.
