Re: Tach stud question

Thanks for the replies. Looks like we'll go with the heli coil insert.

Tach stud question

Just found a bad stud that holds the tachometer housing to the accessory case. The stud pulled out of the case. Looks like the threads are stripped in the case. Shown on pages 16 & 17 in the parts catalog, item # 7, part # 401870. (engine code "G"). What are my options on this. The par...

Re: Rattle can specials

What about something like Preval? You can put in any paint you want and spray. It comes with a pressure source and jar for the paint. Not sure how much paint you need or if this would even work for you, but here is the link.

Not sure if this is still legal, if it ever was, or if they are still available, but try this link.

Re: Want to re-fabric metalized 170

We had re-done our wings and used the pop rivets. There is an STC for the 120/140/170. Use to be from Dip Davis, but he passed and Ken and Lorraine Morris took it over. They are wonderful people and have restored numerous aircraft. I'm sure they will be able to answer some of your questions. Here is...

Re: Oil Leak Seems to be coming from Jasco 6560T Alternator

I tried to post a picture of the alternator breakdown in the Continental service parts catalog, but it was too big. (3.01MB). If you have the book, it is on page 30 and it shows an alternator shaft seal (-14), an "O" ring seal (-13) and a gasket (-9) between the case and alternator face. W...

Re: Shucking Beacon Lenses

Had a Whelan red/white beacon lens that cracked after a short time a few years ago. Called Whelan and they sent out a replacement free of charge. Not sure if they had a bad batch, but this one is holding up fine.

Re: Video to breakfast

Not sure what Paul used, but I picked up a mount kit made by RAM (click on link below) for my GoPro which works out great. The only other piece I had to purchase separately was the GoPro tripod mount, part # GTRA30. I mount this setup to my wing strut. I did get rid of the rubber sleeve that came wi...

Re: Hanlon Wilson Muffler Shroud

Dale,
We had our entire Hanlon-Wilson exhaust overhauled at Dawley Aviation. They are at the Burlington, Wisc. airport. They may be able to help you out and they are close, too.

Re: Generator seal leak - Better alternative seal?

A few things you might check are 1) Is the generator shaft where the seal makes contact clean and smooth? 2) Do the bearings have excessive play? 3) Are you 100% sure the seal is leaking, or is it coming from another location?

Re: 1948 Exhaust

We had our exhaust system rebuilt on our '48 by Dawley Aviation. They did a great job and we were very happy with them. Pretty quick turnaround. We are based fairly close to them, so we were able to drop it off and pick it up. Also, there is a lot of positive input on the Cessna 120-140 Association ...

Re: Alternator parts

Thanks George. I called Aircraft Spruce early Monday morning with part numbers for the alternator oil seal, "O" ring, brushes, retainer, bearings and bushing. They told me they don't carry these parts and will have to call Mfr. and check availability. Still have not heard back from them. W...

Re: Federal Skii Prices

We just put our '48 on skis this past winter after an unsuccessful attempt the previous winter. Had the bare aluminum bottoms and it appeared to be too much drag. We have an 0300D. We found that the UHMW bottoms are a "must have". We used the 3/16" thick material. After installing the...
