Gasket Compound
I thought it time to touch off another round of spirited conversation! Coming from the auto world, I am used to applying a thin coating of gasket compound to all gaskets with the exception of cylinder head gaskets. I find it comforting to see the slight ooozzz of compound from the sealing joint to i...

The Haynes Manuals I referred to are for the automotive field. Just as the automotive field is light years ahead of GA as far as engines go, so their manuals are much more detailed so as to make sure even the first timer is in a good position to do the work. For one thing, I see no fastener torque s...

Thanks for the detail Miles :D Makes me feel a bit better about diving in and taking the case off. The TCM overhaul manual is really skimpy about a lot of details on the engine or maybe I'm just used to good Haynes manuals with really detailed step instructions along with many nice detailed photos. ...

Good Morning guys and thanks for the feedback! My inbox is empty on this site George, but I'll get to my email on the next cup of coffee :) I usually like to have a printed book so that I can store it on the bookshelf in the hangar and be able to sit down and read without messing with a computer...b...

I always thought that the generator would retain a residual voltage while the battery was removed for maintenance or charging and be ready to go again when the battery was reinstalled. That is supposed to be the strong point when you completely kill your battery by leaving the master on....you can h...

I've got one sitting here waiting to be installed. I think mine came from Aircraft Spruce, but can't remember. It is an Ohmite RSH8R0 rated at 1.767 amps with a resistance of 8 ohms. I think the wattage rating is 25 watts. I know there is a formula out there to find the wattage rating based upon the...

I've apparently got a big problem with my starter and could use a bit of advise. Went on a short flight today and heard a crackling in the intercom, then saw the LORAN go off and come back on along with the rest of the avionics, then saw the ampmeter needle doing a dance. Then things quickly calmed ...
