Re: C of G for O-360 conversions
EW: 1405 39.0" 54,745 1955 170B w DelAir O-360 and MT Composite prop (and a LOT of other mods). The MT 'Ultra' 2-blade 80" prop is the lightest at 45 lbs. The MT governor is only 2 lbs. The MT Ultra prop has slightly better performance over the Trailblazer and has the advantage of best vib...

Re: wing and other sheetmetal repair
Dave Thorsness from Foley MN has been doing Cessna wings and controls for over 30 yrs. He has jigs to be able to completely start a wing from scratch if needed. Very fair pricing.

Re: "Strength You Can See!"
Not 24 factory workers, but 4 cute Volleyball stars
I would have let more of them on the wing, but these were the only 4 who did not have paint scratching 'bling' on their jeans.

Re: MT Composite Prop STC
George, There is a MT Prop factory bulletin referenced in the TCDS of the MT props that is a list of every governor known and as new ones come to market, they add them. The MT prop only requires simple oil pressure to increase pitch. All standard governors do this. I used the MT governor in my proje...

Re: MT Composite Prop STC
The STC is a 'propeller change' STC. It is approved replacing ALL existing propellers with the MT as long as you have any version of a Lycoming -360 engine. Literally on the STC it shows approved engines as "Lycoming [ ]-360[ ] Series Engines".

MT Composite Prop STC
The STC that approves the MT composite hydraulic constant speed propeller has recently been amended to approve installation on all 170/172/15 series aircraft that are powered by ANY version of a Lycoming -360 series engine and any hydraulic governor. Two props are currently available. A 83" 2-b...

Re: Lyc IO360 upgrade
I have the DelAir O-360 on a 1955 C170B with sportsman kit. Plane is 1400 pounds empty. Prop is a MT composite 3-blade constant speed. I just returned from a 6500+ mile trip from Wisconsin to Alaska and back. I could count on 127 to 135 MPH TAS at cruise altitudes of 5500MSL to 8500 MSL burning 7.8 ...

John whats your engine STC and STC of the prop? Whats the prop's length ? I'm trying to avoid the weight of the dampner thks Jim, The engine is a Lyc O-360 installed with DelAir STC. Lycon did some magic to the cyl before it was installed. The 3-blade MT prop shown is 79" diameter and weighs 5...

Re: Prop RPM Avoid Range Operation
Resize of DSCN9576.JPG The RPM Range restriction is in placed with metal props because of very strong, damaging harmonic vibration levels were the natural frequency of the metal prop matches one or more of the primary order vibration pulse frequencies of the engine. You may not feel it, but the pro...

Re: red indication on tach
N170KW-104.JPG Metal props on a Lyc -360 all have this limitation due to the natural harmonic frequency of the metal blades working at those RPM's WITH engine firing pulses that result in dangerous vibration levels in the engine/prop. There is a heavy harmonic balance ring that is installed behind ...
