Hey guys, for what its worth - spontaneous combustion in oily rags only happens with organic oils like cotton seed or linseed oil, soy bean oil would probably work too. Dinosaur oil / fuel needs an ignition source.:D You all probably knew that already. Like one of my favorite "posters" on ...

Hey Brad,
You probably already thought of this but.... I understand you can put a flag on your credit report through the credit reporting companies that will notify you when people are trying to get credit with your I.D. I hope they get caught.
Good luck,
Kevin

Kyle, I think the articulating type allows you to push them out forward a little more as well as cover the side windows when you are up side down :D I didn't know they came in different styles. Maybe if you were flying over water covering the side windows would be necessary - or at sunset? I haven't...

Ole Pokey,
Mine are the articulating style. I like the ability to move the visor to different angles and areas of the windshield. I don't know if it is worth $65 extra or not, probably depends on how much you use them/need them.

I have them in my 49A model too. They are great. You might have to drill holes to mount them - I don't think most of the A models came with the factory visor mounts that allow you to just bolt them up. :D

I recommend all aviators take some spin training - heck even the basic rolls and loops are great fun. I had to do spins when I trained for my private pilot and more recently, I had the opportunity to take some aerobatic lessons. They are more difficult to do correctly than you would think. Someone w...

Pavewlc, I had the same problem with my 170a with the C-145 and the MA3-sp carb. (I think I remember the carb numbers right). George is right on. At least in my case, the seal for the accelerator pump was not doing its job. Apparently it is very common for the leather seal to dry out or just wear ou...

I have a new Scott 3200 tail wheel and the old style 170 steering on my 170A (I am not sure, but the linkage might have a lot of differences from yours). It has very sluggish response to the tailwheel steering especially compared to the lighter citabria I learned tailwheel in. At taxi speeds and wit...

My plane has the black "tar" coating in the belly and sides of the fuselage. Like Bill said, I thought it was for sound proofing.
